Getting to and from the airport

Options for travelling to Brussels and Charleroi airports

A taxi from Brussels Central or Midi stations to Zaventem airport will cost approximately €45, while a taxi to Charleroi will be at least double that.

By public transport, a train from Brussels North station costs €8.70 each way and takes about 20 minutes. There are direct trains to Zaventem from most major Belgian cities. Tickets can be bought online, at the station or on the train itself for a €7 surcharge.

Bus 12 runs at regular intervals from Brussels Place du Luxembourg and Schuman to the airport, with a journey time of about half an hour. It costs €4.50 each way from a ticket machine or €6 from the driver. At evenings and weekends, the bus carries the number 21 instead. Flemish public transport operator De Lijn also operates buses to Brussels airport from the city centre and other towns in the Brussels periphery.

To get to Charleroi airport (officially known as Brussels South-Charleroi Airport) there are regular shuttle buses from Gare du Midi. They cost €17 each way in person or between €5 and €14 purchased in advance online. Buses start at about 4.00 and the journey takes about an hour.
